Nido Student Case Study

Nido are multi award winning specialists in the purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) arena. Setup up in 2012 Nido now covers the length and breath of the UK, as well as operating multiple sites across Europe.

The Challenge

Running a 1,750-bed portfolio comes with certain administration challenges, such as covering service agreements, managing vendor contracts and measuring KPIs. It also entails lots of facilities management challenges like wasting time on reactive callouts. What Nido needed were more streamlined and simplified processes.

Fjeld’s Solution

With extensive experience in both the US and UK residential markets, Fjeld Consulting knew exactly what was needed to ease Nido’s challenges. Using our renowned centralised procurement process we collected existing PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) contracts, created a standard service agreement, and set KPI’s. We also introduced a budgetary tracking system to ensure accountability and transparency at the property level and managed all services to an SFG20 best business practise service level. We then retendered planned preventative and reactive maintenance contracts, alongside layering in ancillary income programs. This resulted in Fjeld Consulting saving Nido £175,000 annually whilst also improving the service offering provided to Nido from the new contracts.

The Outcome

Nido has saved £175,000 annually and Fjeld has added another very happy client to the list of successes. Nido’s CEO Neil Burton even has our team on speed dial!
